Rehersal: Sunday August 13th: 2pm-8pm at Greensboro United Church of Christ Monday, August 14th: 10am-3pm HCA Main Stage Notes: Masterful pianist, Steven Beck, returns to the highland Center main stage to perform a range of comtemplative-to-propulsive, romantic piano qintets from Schummann, Guastavino, von Weber and Reger. Fan favorite, Igor Leschishin, returns on oboe to perform the serene, heartfelt and jubilant melody and counterpoint to Steven's piano in Schumann's "Three Romances." Victoria Luperi Franco, visits Greensboro for the first time to perform solo clarinet in Guastavino's "Toñanda y Cuaca" and von Weber's fantastic Clarinet Quintet in B flat Major. Reger's Piano Quintet No. 1 in c minor was not publishd until after Reger's death in 1922. This work shows the strong influence of Brahms as Reger was only 25 when he wrote the piece. Paired with Weber Clarinet Quintet that showcases the abilities and wide range of the clarinet, this concert will put you in a summer romance mood. Come and hear Argentinian composer Carlos Guastavino, soulful Robert Schumann Romances and quintets by Reger and Weber on a hot summer night. |
